Region: Mosel, Germany
Grape Variety: Riesling
Quality Level: Auslese “one star” stands for special selection
Rating: WS 96, WA 90 (2001’)
Highlights / Critic Review:
The Selbach family has been in the German wine business since 1660. Today Johannes Selbach and his wife Barbara manage the winery, which has become one of the leading Mosel producers of wines. Many of their wines have received excellent reviews.
This wine is made from Zeltinger Himmelreich (Single vineyard).
Tasting Notes:
On the nose, delicate scent of ripe peaches and apricots, a touch of smokiness and a hint of honeyed botrytis (noble rot).
Good to pair with spicy and savoury food, with a good cheese board, nuts, dried fruits and many types of desserts.
