Region: Maipo Valley, Chile
Grape Variety: Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot
Rating: Descorchados 92
Highlights / Critic Review:
Reserva de Familia is Santa Carolina's flagship. The vineyards receive the refreshing influence of both the Cachapoal river and the Andes, enabling a long vegetative process that is ideal for Carmenère grapes to achieve full ripeness and produce complex wines. The wine was stored in French oak barrels for a minimum of 14 months.
Tasting Notes:
The nose is rich in aromas of black pepper, red cherries and hints of fine, well integrated wood. The stylish mouth features very pure red and black fruit, powerful and complex tannins, and a finish marked by notes of vanilla and cedar.
Good to pair with Suckling Pig,Stewed Dishes with Spices, Braised Meat.
